Let’s Play!

Play-based first step into music.

Hands-on introduction to music for young children and their grown-ups.

What is Let’s Play?

Let’s Play! is a high-quality, early-years (0–5) music education group for young children and their grown-ups.
It offers a first experience of music that is playful on the surface and musically serious underneath — led by a skilled musician who responds to children in the moment and supports real music-making from the very start.

Sessions are play-based, with space for children to join in, observe, move around, or take things at their own pace. Some children jump straight in; others watch, listen, or take time before joining. All of these are welcome ways to take part. Grown-ups stay with their children and are part of the music too. There’s no pressure to perform, no expectation to “get it right,” and no set outcome to reach. Families are welcomed as they are, and curiosity is enough.

Let’s Play suits families looking for a first music group that leaves space for children to engage in their own way. Along the way, children encounter real instruments, real listening, and moments of playing together, building familiarity with music in a way that feels natural rather than instructional.

What happens in the session

Sessions begin with families arriving and settling in together, with time for children to notice the room, the instruments laid out, and the sounds around them.

Music unfolds through shared songs, moments of listening, and opportunities to explore a wide range of real instruments. Children and grown-ups use the instruments side by side, discovering sounds together.

There’s a sense of beginning and ending, but no fixed routine to keep up with. Each session is shaped by the group on the day, with space for repetition and moments of playing together.

Sessions are fully funded, but voluntary contributions from families able to support the programme help ensure we can continue to run in a sustainable way. We are grateful for anything you are able to pay, but the most important part is having you in the room.
